I've often wondered how a strong person looks like, then I remembered what a girl told me on a train trip: "People who are calm are the ones who are mature". Is calmness the most important quality of strong people? I don't know if the most important, but is definitely one of them.
People confuse social status with being a powerful person. They confuse having a lot of money with being a powerful person. If a person has a social status, but has no control over his behavior or the way he speaks, is he a powerful person? If he has a lot of money, but he is a mess in his personal life, is he a strong person? Money can help you become powerful, but it's not the only thing that matters.
For me, a strong woman can embrace many forms: a woman who builds a strong family, a mom who raises her children alone, a woman who overcomes a disease, a woman who leaves a toxic relationship, a woman who fulfills a dream, a woman who never gives up despite critics, a woman who protects her family during war, a woman who raises her children with very limited resources (take some examples from Africa and not only), a woman who succeeds in a male-dominated field and examples could go on.
Strong isn't always about strength, but most of the time, it is more about courage. If you type on Google World's Strongest Woman, what will come up after your search will be women who participated in the sports of power lifting. So, this word strong is attributed more to physical strength, than moral.
If you type the same words on Forbes, you will get as a result a list of the richest women on the Planet, most of them from politics or artists.
But here's the most interesting part. If you type qualities of a strong woman, your search will return 10 Characteristics of Mentally Strong Women, which I will mention here:
#1 Confident
#2 Productive
#3 Optimistic & Positive
#4 Go- Getter (who puts dreams into action)
#5 Fear Tackler
#6 Caring
#7 Not Afraid to Stand Up for What You Believe In
#8 Proud
#9 Not Phased By What Other People Say
#10 True to Yourself
I will let you dive into conclusions, but not before reminding you: Never apologize for being a strong woman!
Let me know your thoughts about what strong means for you as a woman. I would like to know more!
