Here's to Strong Women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them!

Books I would recommend to any woman

Weekend is coming and if you are short of ideas, I decided to give you a helping hand. These are 5 books I would recommend you to read and you will find why.

  1. The Florios of Sicily and The Winter of Lions, by Stefania Auci- well, you can't miss these ones. These books have all: family, love, betrayal, sacrifice, power, war and business. These are my favorite ones, as I think they light up very well the aspects of life and the internal turmoil of the characters. And yes, it all happens in Italy.

  2. Diana: Her True Story - In Her Own Words, by Andrew Morton- few people know that my first name is given after hers and I am also a lover of freedom. So yes, at first I was just curious about reading this book. But why would I recommend it? You will find out that money isn't everything in life and getting married to a rich man, but who doesn't love you, can make you feel miserable as a woman. If you take her out of this marriage, she had it all: beautiful, smart, empathetic, doing charitable actions, a very good person. But something went totally wrong in her personal life and if anything written in this book is true, she was very unhappy, living in a continuous depression until she found the courage to come out. I guess it's a good reminder that sometimes is better to give up than to hold on.

  3. You are what you think, by Dr. Wayne Dyer- this is a psychological book, that actually teaches you how you can live a better life and how to approach different aspects of it: without ego, with modesty, without turning your life in a hurry all the time, without excesses, leading yourself better and others as well. As the author mentions, he learned writing his book from being too competitive to flexible.

  4. A Radical Awakening, by Dr. Shefali- yes, another doctor. Well, this is a very challenging read, but a very good one for women. It talks about competition, sexuality, kids, divorce, careers. It gives examples of herself and other women who lost themselves for their partner or their kids and how they regain control over their life and of how they truly wanted to live. It's a reminder for all women who face challenges in their lives that there is one thing they always have and that one is choice.

Wish you a good read!
